Responsibilities:
The primary duties for the Social Safeguard Specialist include:
- Social Impact Assessment:
- Conduct social assessments to identify the potential impacts of the Sindh Solar Energy Project on local communities.
- Develop strategies for addressing negative social impacts, including displacement, livelihood, and other socio-economic consequences.
- Community Engagement:
- Engage with local communities, stakeholders, and affected groups to ensure their concerns and needs are heard and addressed.
- Implement programs to enhance social development and minimize project-related disruptions to communities.
- Compliance with Social Safeguard Policies:
- Ensure the Sindh Solar Energy Project complies with national and international safeguard policies related to social and community welfare.
- Prepare reports documenting social safeguard strategies and their implementation.
- Monitoring and Reporting:
- Monitor the progress and impact of social safeguard strategies, ensuring they are effectively mitigating adverse effects.
- Provide regular reports to project management and government authorities.
Qualifications:
- Educational Background:
- Master’s, MS, or Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Environmental Management, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Additional certification or training in social safeguards or community development will be a plus.
- Experience:
- Previous experience in social safeguard assessments, community engagement, or environmental projects, particularly in large infrastructure or energy projects.
- Familiarity with international safeguard standards, such as the World Bank’s safeguard policies, is preferred.
- Skills:
- Strong analytical and communication skills.
- Proven ability to manage complex community and stakeholder relationships.
- Ability to assess and report social impacts and develop appropriate mitigation plans.
- Proficiency in MS Office and other relevant software tools.
